EP 79 – 2025 Goal Planning: How I’m Growing My EMDR Intensive Practice

Happy New Year and welcome to the first Future Template Parent Podcast episode of 2025!

In this episode, Dr. Carolyn Solo rings in the new year with a transparent look at her own business goals—and how she’s intentionally structuring her EMDR Intensive practice for growth, sustainability, and sanity.

Carolyn shares her three major goals for 2025, why they matter to her, and how they reflect both her business values and personal priorities after a whirlwind year of change.

Goal #1: Launching and Filling Three EMDR Intensive Group Cohorts

Carolyn’s signature group program—The EMDR Intensive 12-Week Intensive—has transformed the practices (and lives) of EMDR therapists across the country.

In 2025, she’s committing to launching and filling three full cohorts of the program: in January, May, and September.

Each 12-week round helps therapists:

  • Build and market their own EMDR intensive offerings
  • Create sustainable income and time freedom
  • Reduce burnout while deepening their clinical impact

Running the program three times a year is ambitious, but Carolyn knows that consistent launches keep her aligned with her own teachings about visibility, structure, and accountability.

“I tell my group members all the time—you can’t get clients if people don’t know you exist. That goes for me too. Each launch keeps me grounded in the same hard work I ask of them.”

Goal #2: Completing One EMDR Intensive Per Month

Even as a coach and consultant, Carolyn wants to stay connected to the heart of the work—therapy itself.

Her goal for 2025 is to complete one EMDR intensive each month, ensuring she continues to refine her clinical skills, stay attuned to client experiences, and model authenticity for the therapists she mentors.

She shares that intensives are her favorite kind of work:

“I love the transformation that happens when you can sit with someone for hours, uninterrupted by the clock. It reminds me why I became a therapist—and it keeps the work life-giving.”

After moving from Pennsylvania to Vermont in 2024, Carolyn is also looking forward to building new referral networks in her small-town community and bringing intensive healing to clients in her new home state.

Goal #3: Living With Intention—And Slowing Down

After a year of monumental transitions—completing her PhD, relocating her family, navigating homeschooling, and running a business—Carolyn’s third goal for 2025 is about intentional living.

She’s ready to trade the chaos for calm:

  • Saying no to unnecessary commitments
  • Creating margin in her schedule
  • Modeling balance and boundaries for her children
  • Letting go of the “busy = important” mindset

“Slowness doesn’t come naturally to me, but I know I need it. This year, I’m choosing presence over productivity. I want to live in the place we moved to—not just survive here.”

The Takeaway

Goal-setting isn’t just about doing more—it’s about aligning your business with your values.

Carolyn’s plans for 2025 show that you can grow your practice and create more ease, rest, and meaning along the way.

If one of your 2025 goals is to finally launch or grow your EMDR Intensive practice, now’s the time. The January cohort of The EMDR Intensive 12-Week Intensive begins January 20th, and there are still limited spots available.
